Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker (2008) declared as the Best Film at the Academy Awards in 2010. The movie is directed by Kathryn Bigelow beat ‘Avatar’, which seeded by many parties to reach an Oscar.

Why ‘The Hurt Locker’ to be the best movie? The first of course because jury rating of the Academy Awards in 2010. Academy Awards jury whose members contain the journalists, film makers and film critics, it must have certain considerations.

The film lasted approximately 131 minutes talk about the action Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner), a bomb squad from the United States Army who was on duty in the Iraq war.

In the film described how Sergeant James through every tension when trying to tame dozens of bombs deployed by Iraqi guerrillas. As in most war films made in Hollywood, shooting a scene or a victim of the bloody, there was in ‘The Hurt Locker’. But it can be said if portions are not as many as in the movie ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (1998) or ‘Black Hawk Down’ (2001).

In addition to defuse the bomb scene and shooting, ‘The Hurt Locker’ also shows the human side of American soldiers who served in Iraq. Sergeant James who has a mischievous little characters are always arguing with his partner, Sergeant JT Sanborn (Anthony Mackie). The debate between the Sergeant and Sergeant James Sanborn always happens every second after the duty on the battlefield.

Not only that, it was shown also how naughty impressed by Sergeant James could see the depression as an Iraqi child victims of mutilation.

Then where the interesting ‘The Hurt Locker’ so they can snatch two prestigious categories, Best Picture and Best Director, in addition to four other categories, at the Academy Awards in 2010?

The technique of shooting ‘The Hurt Locker’, there is nothing new. Camera techniques that seemed to follow the movement of players in the film ‘The Hurt Locker’ has also been practiced in ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (1998), ‘Traffic’ (2000), or ‘Crash’ (2001).

Acting from the stars in the film may be thumbs up. Actor Jeremy Renner able to bring the character of a bomb squad complete with suspense and also his naughty. In addition to Renner, Anthony Mackie capabilities should also be given awards.

The story of ‘The Hurt Locker’ was the one who should be listened to properly. In the film, Kathryn Bigelow, the director, does not describe the victory or defeat U.S. troops on the battlefield.

Bigelow at the end of the film describes how a soldier of the United States, in this case, Sergeant William James, wanted to return to fight in Iraq for the honor of the nation and country.Sergeant James had expressed a desire to his wife when he was living quietly in his hometown.

Though the line of duty in Iraq, Sergeant James had depression and a desire to return home.Bigelow seems to want to show the United States of nationalism was a soldier, without the need to describe the victory of Uncle Sam’s soldiers on the battlefield.
